 Vineyards:         

The Pinot Noir vineyard was planted in 2007 on a steep south east facing section of the farm. Both 115 and 777 clones were selected and yields were only 7.5 tons per hectare.

 Harvest Date:    

21^st February 2018 at 22 balling.

 Winemaking:     

The grapes were cold macerated at 14 degrees centigrade for 24 hours before yeast inoculation. During fermentation, the wine was punched down regularly to ensure soft tannin and flavour extraction. After fermentation was completed, a basket press was used to separate it from the skins. The wine was then sent to 2^nd, 3^rd and 4^th fill French oak barrels for 18 months where malolactic fermentation was completed.

Wine:              

The wine has a beautiful fragrant nose of spice and berry fruits, layered with earthy notes so typical of Pinot Noir grown in an environment ideally suited to its sensitivities. The 2018 was a particularly delicate vintage, lighter in both colour and alcohol than previous years, but no less complex. An understated wine that is both accessible but also cerebral for those who have fallen prey to ethereal charms of Pinot. This wine can be enjoyed now but will gain depth and complexity over the next 2 years.
